This prelab focuses on the nature of solutions to higher-order difference equations, which usually have complex natural frequencies. We also review how to use difference equations to model systems (such as a crane, and more to the point, the copter-levitated arm you will see in lab). Finally, we will talk a little about adding delta feedback to stabilize second-order systems.
In the lab, you will discover that composing difference equations directly is combursome and error-prone, and next week we will begin discussing alternatives.
